Location: Garden of Phoenix, Jackson Park. 5800 S Lake Shore Drive, Chicago.

“Sky Landing” by Yoko Ono, will be the first permanent work of art by Yoko Ono in the Americas. It will be installed in the Garden of the Phoenix in Jackson Park. Sky Landing will become a place of congregation and contemplation and will be installed in harmony within the existing surrounding gardens and habitats of Jackson Park.

Fabrication in Stages:
Waterjet cutting of petals at Alro Steel
Drilling holes in 1” thick stainless steel Petals to attach base plates at Byus Steel, Inc.
Rolling of petals at Chicago Metal Rolled Products
Fitting and welding of base plates at Byus Steel, Inc.

After the petals were cut, the next stage was drilling holes in the 1” thick stainless steel Petal base plates.
This was at Byus Steel, Inc.

Chicago Metal Rolled Products click here.. rolled the Petals. Rolling was a challenge that created some excitement with the forces involved. But all 12 Petals turned out great. CMRP is putting together a little video documenting the process and will send it to us soon.
